I have a hampton bay fan... It was working just find for the last 4 years... I went to use it today and it won't turn on or anything plus when I turn off and on the switch on the wall I hear a click in the fan.. could this be the motor or a fuse in the fan... A friend says it's the remote but the light comes on and all the Dip switches in the fan match the remote can anyone help me with this

Do you hear any clicking or get any reaction from the fan whatsoever when you push buttons on the remote?

To clarify, when you say the light comes on, you mean the indicator on the remote or the fan's light kit? I assumed the former.. .

A good idea might be to try a replacement (universal) remote to eliminate that as the problem. You can also try switching the frequency on both the remote and fan so that the switches match in a different pattern.

There are no fuses in the fan, and I doubt it is the motor.. . Assuming it's nothing simple such as a loose connection, it's probably either the remote or the receiver. Remote is easy to replace, receiver is not.
