    MS Word & Excel Requesting Virus Scan
    When opening a Word Excel document the message 'requesting virus scan' appears when opening the application then when opening the file the same message again. Instead of a couple of seconds for whole procedure it now takes 11 to 23 seconds. I had made no changes to my computer.
    Following another thread I set Norton Antivirus to Scan Files using Smart Scan and removed .doc and xls files from the list. It made no change to the file opening times and that message still appears. Any Ideas, please.

    Hi,
    As you are using Norton in the Options uncheck the "enable Ofiice Plug-in" box

    Thanks Shaved. You should set up a Norton troubleshooting agency, your response left them for dead. Your solution was so simple 'and it worked'.
