I took aeronautical engineering and I've never heard the term roadway used to describe a flight path.

I think the question was what is the difference between a runway and regular road pavement maybe in terms of materials and techniques used to build it.

mani_jeddah: I am in the field, but I guess it depends where you live

dyna2001: I don't really know specifics but runways are built from steel re-inforced concrete, roads are made with a concrete base with ashphalt over it... anything more than that you'll have to look up.

dyna2001 disagrees: I've done my home work... but I'm an Information technology back ground Airport staff, being ask to answer the question.
Clearly you misunderstood my intent by asking if you'd done your research. My asking isn't wrong. All you had to do was answer my question.
This site can and does provide much help to many people, but we're not going to "pave" the way if you don't want to be at least a little bit more understanding. Frankly, I don't care what aspect of airport work you do. If this is outside your realm, you will need to do more research to determine if any of the things you read here or elsewhere are correct and accurate before you can speak knowledgably.
But, it this is how you want to operate, I hope you have a difficult time.

Airport Runway Construction Requirements [ 3 Answers ]

I have been asked to find the construction requirements to construct a runway that would withstand the weight of an airliner plus its cargo of approximately 100,000 pounds. Where do I go to fine the specs for such a project? I need the info so that I can estimate the cost of construction. Thanks...
