Wow, what a difference a week makes. In the past 48 hours, for anyone who didn't know on February 15 Wal-MArt joined other stores in saying they won't stop HD-DVD anymore and then near the end on the day a VP at Toshiba USA let is slip that there would be "an announcement" in the next month that would "affect the future of HD-DVD". Then last night, February 16 a senior person at Toshiba Japan said this announcement would come this week.
Also last night production of HD-DVD players and recorders was stopped and so it is now almost certain this announcement will be that production is stopped for good and that HD-DVD will be withdrawn.
So please, for all that is holy, don't buy the $129.00 HD-DVD players anymore, they will literally be obsolete this week.
