Credit card fraud under 5000$ in quebec,
Hi, I am from Quebec and was recently in an apartment with someone I had only known for about 2 weeks... I realize now that it was a mistake, but at the time I was an avid pot smoker and was always looking for some extra cash.

I made the mistake of taking my roommates credit card and using it for putting gas in my car. I only put 25$ in but she filled a complaint and I went to the sq station and was interrogated on it. They said I was being charged with credit card fraud under 5000$. I made a statement, admitted to doing it and was very compliant with the officer.

I realize that this might seem like a small some of money but I am nonetheless worried about the consequences of doing so. This is my first offense and believe me I regret it. I am clean and sober now and go to college.

Another thing is that when we left the apartment I paid the last months rent, wich was 750$
Making her share 375$. I'm just wondering how that factors in with anything and what I'm facing if or when I go to court

Thank you to anyone willing to help

The apartment rent has nothing to do with your unauthorized use of her credit card for $25. She filed the complaint against you for the $25. You can sue her in small claims court for the $375.

Yes, the rent has no bearing on the criminal case.

Mistake one, confessing without talking to an attorney first..
At this point I would not say another word about it, before I talked to an attorney. They attorney may talk to the perosn and have you pay them back plus a standard fee for their trouble and have them drop the charges,

But with the confessoin except to see what the sentence is, I don't know what else you an do.

    Hello forgoton:

You made more mistakes than the Padre said. You came on to this website blaming pot for stealing...

Look. A lot of people smoke pot. It doesn't make you lose your mind. It doesn't make you do things you wouldn't ordinarily do. It doesn't make you steal. How dumb do you think we are?

I am not blaming pot for anything I was just saying what was going on in my life at the time.
Also I wanted to know what would happen with this, I did speak to an attorney and he said the fact that I confessed was a good thing. He said it would most probably get me off only having to pay her back.

Now what I was asking is, what are the other possible consequences of this that is all
