    Can't Get Pregnant
My husband and I have been together for almost 11 months. We have been having unprotected sex since we got together. I have been sexually active for 5 years now, and 98% of my sexual experiences have been unprotected. I have never been pregnant. I know I probably shouldn't say this on here, but oh well... I have been sexual with 5 different guys in 5 years. So, I have assumed that the problem is with me.

There have been times where I have experienced pregnancy symptoms and my period was 2 weeks late, but still no baby. Also, I have experienced symptoms of a miscarriage, at least 4 times. Every time I go to the hospital about it, they run blood and urine tests and tell me that I am not pregnant, so I couldn't be having a miscarriage.

How would I go about being tested to see if there is something medically wrong with me or my husband? Where would I start? We do not have a "family doctor" or anything like that. Would I just go see my OB/GYN?

Any help, advice, information... anything would be great. Thanks

My advice to you is to read Taking Charge Of Your Fertility. I just finished reading it myself. It teaches you about your body to learn how to tell when you are ovulating so you would know when your most fertile days are. This is done through things like taking your temperature every morning and making a chart. This book will also help understand what is happening with pregnancy signs and then your period being 2 weeks late.
You can check out the site by clicking here -> Taking Charge of Your Fertility
Also, if you'd like to see a doctor I'd go to a OB/GYN, or a fertility specialist.

I think it may be in your best interest to start with your OBGYN.

Please don't think I am judging here, I'm not, but have you ever been tested for STDs? Many can be asymptomatic for many years making us women infertile.

When was your last female exam? If it has been a while I would start by making an appointment and taking a list of all questions and concerns with you.

I was tested in August. I don't have any STDs. I understand what you mean though J_9. I have thought about going to the OB/GYN about it, because I don't know where a fertility specialist is around here... anywhere. Anyway, thanks y'all.

Start with your OB/GYN and tell him/her exactly what you are telling us. You will be amazed what those people learn in 8 years of school ;-)

Definitely start with your OBGYN. They will do a workup of tests, and possibly order some for your husband too.
You are close enough to the "year" mark that most doctors want you to hit before they step in to help. Your OBGYN will offer treatment if necessary... if your still don't get pregnant they may send you to a fertility specialist.

Good luck! I know its tough, my husband and I have been trying for well over a year. My OBGYN started me on Clomid (a hormone that is supposed to induce ovulation) but so far all the doses haven't made me ovulate yet :( They are going to try a couple more rounds then I'm off to a fertility specialist.
