    Who's parents are not Divorced
I was talking to my friends (we are all under 35) and I realized I am the only one with parents who are still married. One of my friends parents aren't together because his mother passed when we were kids (but his dad was cheating on her anyway) and everyone else's parents are divorced. So are your parents still together or are the divorced?

My parents AND my wife's parents are still married. We even got married first *then* had kids. That puts us in quite the minority these days. :)

In my family my parents are divorced in fact my mom has been divorced twice but is married to her third husband of 10 years and my dad has been divorced 3 times. My mom has 4 5 siblings and only 2 of them are still married with 30 something year old children. Also I am married my second time and my Ex husband is on his 3rd wife. P.S I am not proud of being divorced but it does take "2" to make a marriage work...

Well I'm 25 and my parents have been married for 28 years. My husband is 26 and his parents are divorced. His mom only remarried once (they are still together) and his dad is on his 3rd wife!

A lot of kids are dealing with divorce today. If you are one of them and finding it painful, I wish you strength and understanding. And keep this in mind, better off divorced than living in hell or worse - dead.

My parents would have celebrated their 50th this past October, but Dad passed in June. My in-laws have just recently celebrated their 54th year.

Parents still married after 52 years, but obviously not happy. Just the time by itself says nothing about the quality of their marriage.
I think they might have been better off finding the right partner in their lives. Not advocating divorce, but living together just because of obligation is wearing thin on both of them.

42 years for my parents as well. I'm thinking that the divorce rates keep climbing along with the increased acceptance of having children outside of marriage. The numbers of people who have both parents together is going to dwindle even more in the future!

I agree with divorces happening because of having kids before they were married. My friend's brother knew a girl for 6 months then announces they are engaged AFTER 6 MONTHS!! Then a month after that SURPRISE SURPRISE she is pregnant. Oh and they JUST turned 21. They aren't married yet (probably never will be) the baby is one and they fight all the time and she uses the kid like a hostage it makes me very very sick. And the sad thing is the pregnancy was not an accident they talked about it and decide hey we have only known each 6 months lets have a kid SO STUPID.

I kind of figured (I hate to use the word) but "Older" people one here would have parents that are still together but we are falling into the minority of having parents who are stilled married.

My parents have been married 33 years. (Mostly happily--they have their fights, but obviously love each other)

My husband's parents have been married 43 years. (same thing--they adore each other)

My husband and I have been married 6 years--and no kids, so that couldn't have been the reason we got married.

My mother passed away during their 19th year of marriage. My dad remarried eventually though. My husband's parents aren't married and won't even talk to each other right now.

My parents were married for 39 years before they passed away. I know that they would still be together today.

I have been married for 13 years now and I'm very happy. Something very wrong would have to happen for me to consider divorce. I'm in it for the long haul.

My in-laws were married for 60-some years before my fil died. My own parents would have been married 50 years, but my dad died 8 months before their anniversary. The two wives are still alive. I've been married for almost 41 years. My two adult sons are not married.

My parents were married for nearly 35 years, then my dad passed away. My aunt and uncle (mom's sister) were married for nearly 40 years, then my aunt passed away. Another aunt and uncle (dad's sister) have been married for about 30 years. Both sets of grandparents remained married until my grandfathers passed (both grandfathers). They both hit somewhere near 50 years.

Hubby's parents are still married, as are his grandparents.

The only people in my family to get divorced are one of my brothers (he married a crazy girl, but that's another thread!), one of my cousins, and one aunt. None had kids before getting married.

I've been happily married for six years this June. :)
