    Sentencing after trial
After your trial and they sentence you to jail, at what point do you go. Immediately? Or do you have time to get affairs in order once you know the length of stay?

    Sentencing after trial
I am an ex-police officer and have been a probation officer for seven years. This decision depends entirely on the sentencing judge and I have seen it happen both ways. If the person receives a jail sentence, they can ask to have it imposed after they have gotten their affairs in order, but the judge is not required to grant this request.
