Hello, My husband removed the utility sink in our utility go give us more counter space. Now about a month later there is a very foul odor coming from the cabinet below where the sink used to be. Can you tell me how to get rid of the stink? It seems like it is coming from the wall.

The sink used to have a trap on the drain to prevent that smell, sewer gas. Don't know how you hubby eliminated the trap and drain but it sounds like he did not cap the old drain properly. I have seen people cap drains with damp rags, not the way to go.

I agree with ballenger1... Pending what pipe (cast, plastic, brass) is used, it need to be capped off with the correct plumbing fittings. Do not use cloth, cardboard, plastic wrap as this is a sewer "gas" and can cause issues. Hope this helps you!
