I have an almost new (400 mile) Michelin Erilium bicycle tire in which the wire bead separated from the side of the tire. The tire was pressurized to 112 pounds. What woulod cause this failure? :mad:

If that pressure is within the tire's recommended range, I'd call it just a bad tire.

Call where you got it to confirm you can come trade it in. If they're reputable they'll do it on the spot instead of having you contact Michelin directly.

As another said, probably a bad tire.
Most tire manufacturers' have good Quality Control in producing their tires, but sometimes, a bad one gets to the dealers.
If your tire is still under warranty, you might be able to get a new one.
Same thing sometimes happens to new tire for autos. Treads separate due to bad construction. And, sometimes a very hard blow to the tire can separate it.

A reputable local bike shop will warranty that for you if you can prove when you bought it. Take it back to where you bought it from first and if you're the type of person who orders online, then take it back to your local bike shop still. If they care about customers they will take care of you. Good luck
