Can't obtain citizenship because of tax debt
My husband has an approximate tax debt of $75k (he was audited in 2002 - and IRS went back three yrs- it's reached this enormous amount because of interest and penalties - it was originally $50k). We have no payment agreement yet and basically no resolution to this but anyway, he tried to obtain citizenship (he's been a permanent resident for 30 yrs) and was rejected because of his tax debt. He was told that when he has resolved the tax issue he can once again file. There is NO way we are going to satisfy a debt that big anytime in this century. Is there any way to get around that?
