    If Oracle 9i is to be installed in Windows XP platform what RAM would be required for
    I) Server version and also for
    ii) Personal Oracle 9i

    This really depends on the type of application you are going to use with the Oracle database. Oracle's middle name is "more more" which basically means that the more OS RAM you have the more you can assign in the init.ora file within Oracle and the more Oracle will be happy :)

    A server version should use at least 50% of your real RAM so that the OS and other apps use some of the memory.

    Personal Oracle 9i should be configured the same depending on your OS memory.

    However it shouldn't use less than 1024Mb (or 1 gig) if you can spare the OS memory.
