Just purchased a Harbor Breeze Triton fan at Lowe's.

It came with a remote.

I purchased a spare remote, and a wall unit.

The thing is, even though the dip switches are ALL set EXACTLY the same, I can never get more than ONE of the controls to work! If I install the transmitter from the original remote, that one works, if I install the transmitter from the wall unit, that one works, and if I install the transmitter from the "new" remote, THE WALL UNIT WORKS BUT NOT THE NEW REMOTE!

I'm extremely confuzzled at this point, especially since the two remotes are 100% identical, right down to the most intricate stampings and stickers on the plastic. They have the same FCC ID, too

No more than one ever works at one time.

Is there something I'm missing, or is it just impossible to have more than one remote control this fan? It's driving me batty. All I really want is to have the wall control and remote both work, so I don't have to fumble around in the dark to find the remote when I come into the room at night after the remote was used to turn off the light during the daytime.

I did see they sold a "combo" for 50 bucks - a wall unit, a remote, and 1 transmitter - I guess I have to break down and buy that? That's a bitter pill to swallow, since I spent less than that on the WHOLE FAN originally.

Let's clear up some terminology:

Transmitter = sends the signals to the fan. In this case, either a wireless remote or a wall control

Receiver = receives the signals and controls the fan.

Wire up the receiver that came with the fan. What transmitters work when you use it? The ones that don't, try all dip switch positions and see if you can get them to work.

I installed the receiver with the came with the fan, only the transmitter that came with the fan worked.

When I installed the receiver that came with the 2nd transmitter, only the wall transmitter worked!
When I installed the receiver that came with the wall transmitter, only the wall transmitter worked, as expected.

I ended up returning the standalone remote transmitter/receiver pack and wall transmitter/receiver pack to Lowe's - and getting the pack that had a remote transmitter, a wall transmitter, and ONLY ONE RECEIVER. That works with those two transmitters only - the remote transmitter that came with the fan does not work with it.

I did try every possible dip switch position on the non-working transmitters, both wall and remotes - however, nothing worked. I can only conclude that Harbor Breeze is squeezing for profits by forcing you to buy the specific 2-transmitter pack with only one receiver. That's nasty, since normally it's $50 for it! I was able to get mine as an "open unit "for $35 thanks to a kind employee who empathized with my troubles, but still, I only paid about $40-45 for the fan including a remote transmitter/receiver in the first place! If you paid normal price, you could double your price just to have a wall control and a remote.

At least now I have a transmitter/receiver set that work together spare in the garage, should I decide to add a remote to any of my other fans... so I suppose that's a bit of a value-add.

It really just makes our lives so much easier to do this, though - I'm surprised they don't sell wall transmitter units that are meant to work with the receivers that come in the fan boxes, that would be a killer market that doesn't require you to pull the whole goshdarn fan down to get at the receiver. Plus, those remotes can be pesky to lose - you're stuck with whatever setting the light/fan were on last, and using the plain jane light switch!

Theoretically you should be able to match the fan receiver with a different transmitter, but there are many many frequencies and only so many dip switches.

Personally this is one of the many reasons I stay away from remote fans altogether.
