    Aztec, or Mayan folk tale
Hi guys! About 30 years ago, I read in school a story about two chieftains that tried to strike a truce. One was invited to the other's camp for a dinner. When that one chieftain arrived, the other was insulted that he came dressed as a commoner. So that chieftain left and had his formal chieftains outfit delivered to the dinner, or (and this is where it got foggy) he came to the dinner properly dressed and poured his food on the clothes, stated that the chieftain only wanted his clothes and not him, so He was going to give the feast to the clothes. Needless to say this didn't go over well, and a war erupted.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
    What race were these chieftains?

    Thanks.

Sounds more like one of those fables or parables with a moral than a true story
But fact can be stranger than fiction!
