    New Orleans
I have a question concerning the rebuilding of New Orleans, currently the
Plan is to repair the damaged levees ,pump out the water and then proceed
    With the reconstruction as usual.
My question is if Suadi Arabia and Japan can build islands for airports and
Resorts why can't they bring in enough fill to raise New Orleans above sea level?
I understand that this would be a MAJOR construction project and we would
Lose some of the buildings that are of historical significance but isn't that
Better than the alternative of putting a band-aid on the problem and waiting for it to flood again?

It is my understanding that most of the buildins have suffered major structural damage, and more thanh 50% of the residents do not have
Flood insurance.so bulldoze them and use them for fill
