Hello,
My 35 year old compressor finally died so I'm replacing it with a unit I scavenged a while back. I'm 95% sure the "new" unit has no mechanical problems since it was almost new when it was replaced. (Renter's dogs chewed up the low voltage wires so the landlord blindly ordered the entire outside unit replaced... go figure!). When his maintenance guy pulled this unit, he cut more wires than was needed, including the wires on all the refrigerant sensor switches (two pressure, one temperature). He also pulled the jumpers from the relays, contactor and S/R caps. And the cover is also missing, which I think had all this info on it. It's an Amana RCC30 model... 2.5 ton. Amana will not respond to my request for a wiring diagram.

Having a Universal cert and books to go with it, I think I've figured out most of the connections, the low voltage short-cycle relay, voltage potential relay, S/R caps and the NC pressure switch on the liquid side. But there is a pressure switch on the vapor side of the compressor that is giving me a problem. After pre-charging the system with R22 to 100psi, the switch is still open. I assumed it was a low suction pressure sensor and it should have closed way before the 100psi point was reached.
Any ideas?
