I am looking for any music site that I could listen or download and it has to be free as I don't have a credit card / can't you pay through your house phone or telewest bill?

Why don't you download any File Sharing Software?

Are you aware of that?

If not, you should know that you can download varieties of songs, softwares, documents, FILMS (including newly released) and many more.

Just a matter of approximately 10 minute download.

Anyway, The softwares are:

ARES (I recommend)
KAAZA
And many more.

I can't recall back the names but ARES is recommended.

Just go to Yahoo Search or Google Search and type down ARES.

Then, you download it. At least, you know how to download.

There won't be any problem.

It has some songs depends really on what you're looking for I found it useful for some of the more airplayed/popular songs far as the shadowed and in the corner songs its really not that great. BUT otherwise its awesome. The song files will go right on your desktop or wherever you choose for them to go.. MOST of them appear within a eye blink. Which if you hate waiting for a song this is GREAT and makes you want to put a trampoline in your living room and bounce while listening to that song.
