    Burning Smell Coming From LCD
Hello all, I have a 17 inch LCD that when plugged has a smell like something is burning internally. Is the monitor done? It works but I don't want to cause a fire!

Burning smell coming from electrical equipment is never good, usually means there's something wrong, I would call in an expert.

How old is the monitor? In some instances new electrical components may have an odor, however any odor doesn't last for too long. Check and make sure the cooling openings are free from dust build-up and air can flow around and behind the monitor.

We recently got a new ceiling fan for our living room and put the old one (not sure of brand - but not more than 3 years old) upstairs in a guest bedroom. Our realtor hooked it up at first and the breaker was flipping because he didn't have the wiring hooked up right. I called a handyman and he...

Burning Smell Associated with Light Switch [ 2 Answers ]

The light switch is not particularly old, but wasn't replaced yesterday either. I have had this problem in apartments I have lived in in the past, although this...

Burning smell in Hampton Bay [ 2 Answers ]

Just bought a new house that has Hampton Bay ceiling fans/lights in several rooms. Each one gets a hot or burning smell after they've been on awhile. Is there a break-in period for these things or did the builder wire something wrong, or do the 60W bulbs need to be 40W? A little...
