    Does my cat have cancer?
My cat has been healthy his whole life, the only problems he's had have involved his teeth. Right now his left eye is swollen and often teary, which also happened a few years ago. The vet decided once again, it was probably related to his tooth. They removed one from the area, cleaned the rest, and claimed to have seen no signs of a tumor, but to let them know if the swelling doesn't go down in a few days. It's been about 9 days and the swelling hasn't noticeably decreased nor increased. The vet now claims it is probably cancer. The eye doesn't seem to bother him, he sleeps on both the swollen and not swollen side, and is not bothered if you touch it. You would not think anything was wrong with him if it wasn't swollen; he acts just like he always has. Is it really most likely cancerous? Couldn't it be conjunctivitis or something else?

My cat has done this with an ear infection and just recently with a bite that he got from another cat that caused his face to swell, in addition to having another ear infection. Bbaytril cleared it up in about 10 days. Btw he is 12 to 13 years old and this is his 3rd ear infection in his life and I have had him since 1997.

Tumors are common in cats down in the ear canal. When I worked as a tech at a animal hospital,we removed several. If he has had teeth problems, this is also a possibility, but this will usually cause the cat extreme discomfort.Conjuntivitis is not likely, because this is usually nasty and sticky, with sneezing. The watering could be from the pressure against his tear ducts. If he stays outside,a cat bite will make him swell, because the bite will fill with infection, and wll have to be drained to remove the fluid.
