    Error message
After a recent about with a virus my computer gives me the error message
    Explorer.exe- Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000005). Click OK to terminate the application.
Any hints on how to fix this. I still have access to explorer in safe mode but that's about it.
I am running Windows Xp Professional on a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a 2.0 ghz Pentium M processor

Boot to your XP CD and use the Repair option

    Thanks
I already tried that so instead used the Dell system recovery tool. I just backed up everything and restored my system to factory settings. It did the trick but now I can't access the Outlook data files I saved to my CD's. If you know how I can do this then I would have my complete system back.

All I did was save the office data file to a cd. Nothing else.

That doesn't tell me HOW you saved them. What files? What sequence of events did you use?

    Cd
    Hi,
When you say you can't access the data files on your CD, do you mean that when you put the CD into your CD-ROM drive, it will not show you the files on it?
    Try this:
Put the CD into your CD-ROM drive, and give it a few seconds to stop spinning.
Then, from the desktop, left double-click on My Computer, then look at the icon for the D-Drive, or whatever your CD-ROM drive is named.
It should show that the CD is recongized, giving you the name of it.
You can left double-click on that drive, and it should open the CD.
You can then copy and paste the files to your Outlook folder in Windows Explorer.
    Best wishes,
    fredg
