Methanogen live in extreme environmental conditions such as animal intestinal tracts or sediments or sewage. I don’t think you can own them.

There are over 50 species of methanogens, divided into three classes - the Methanobacteria , Methanococci , and Methanopyri. All are included among the Euryarchaeota. They are paraphyletic, and there is some reason to suppose the Methanococci are paraphyletic as well.

Hi I need a picture or diagram of the methanogen cycle. Have been searching the web for ages trying to find one, no luck. Is it the same as the carbon cycle? Diagram needs to show inputs and outputs and link to the role of bacteria in it's ecosystem. Any help greatly appreciated. Kaitlyn
