So, what would be required for me to do nails at my home?? Would I need to have to be licensed?

Depends on your location. Some areas ,ust be licensed. Call your local cosmetology school to see if licensure is required in your area.

I know that I don't need a license to do my own nails. That was not my question. I think you misunderstood. I'm asking if I need a license to do OTHER PEOPLE's nails in my home.

That's because you need the education associated with doing nails and the risks inherent. MRSA is a BIG problem with artificial nails. And proper hygiene as well as sterile technique is a must under some conditions.

I don't mean artificial nails. I'm just talking about painting nails. Manicures. **I guess I didn't really clarify that**

You still need to know proper techniques and sterility.

You can do them at home, you just can't get paid for it.

Not only might you need a professional license, but you also might need a business license as well from your City/County, and possibly your State as well.

    Hello Momma:

When jobs are scarce, some people provide underground services in order to pay the rent. They SHOULD get licensed, it's true. And they SHOULD pay taxes, but if they could do that, they wouldn't need to be underground...

I don't recommend you do that.
