    Laptop upgrade! ASUS + ext. hard drive or MACBOOK
    About me:

    Graduating college next spring
    May do traveling

    What I need:

    Average amount of memory space
    CD/RW, USB port, headphone port, microphone, maybe video
    MS Office Pro
    Internet
    Speed
    Portability

    What I am considering (and won't consider others):

    1. new ASUS smaller sized laptop and a portable external hard drive
    2. new (after they lower their prices) or refurbished/used Macbook/Macbook White

    My budget:
    Under $1,000, maybe additional money if I sell my current gigantic, wide screen monster of a Compal HEL81 laptop.

    What are your opinions? Thanks so much!
