How to get a good appraisal of an antique Singer sewing machine?
First of all, please excuse me for my bad english as I am not a native english speaker. I found in the attick (clichee I presume) an antique singer sewing machine. Its serial number is 209101. Singer.com dated it to early 1860's if I remember corretly. What I am asking from you is if you know how, or where to go to get a good appraisal of the item. I can make photos if you'd like. BTW I am from romania, so I think the solution to the appraisal is online only . Thank you for your time, and I wish you only the best!

If the serial number is correct, then the machine with your serial number was manufactured in 1859 (reference). This is a very early date, as Singer started manufacturing them in 1851.

Knowing that, one good source is eBay. Go to eBay and search "antique singer sewing machine" - and look for models dating in the 1850s and 1860s - to see what people are asking for them... and better yet, put them on your watch list to see what they are selling for.

Condition, of course, will be a big factor.

Beyond that, contact some antique dealers to get their opinion.
