    Kennedy-Western University Transcripts
Well, I do feel like a fool. I have lost the opportunity for a job with a six-figure salary because KWU/WNU transcripts ARE NOT available since they shut their doors. Does anyone know of a class action lawsuit I could join to get compensated and/or retribution for the SOB's? I would love to see that a $10 transcript has cost these crooks so much more!!

I also lost a job opportunity because I couldn't get my Kennedy-Western transcripts. Companies are now using Intellius and other similar services for doing background checks. When Intellius cannot verify information on the job application, such as transcipts, proof of attendance, proof of degree, etc. Intellius will return a FAIL for that applicant.

I was denied a position because I couldn't verify my Kennedy-Western degree. The situation couldn't be worse.

Looks like you got your degrees from a diploma mill: Warren National University - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    The results are not unexpected.

You might be surprised to know that Kennedy-Western wasn't always a "degree mill." I chose to study there because of what John Bear had to say about the school in his book:

College Degrees by Mail-100 Good Schools that offer Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorates and Law Degrees by Home Study
    By John Bear, Ph.D. -1995

I think Dr. Bear may have changed his mind some time around 1999-2000; by that time Kennedy-Western had been in business since the 1980's and had graduated over 23,000 students.

Do an experiment and search for Kennedy-Western + PhD. You might be surprised at the number of current college professors who are Kennedy-Western alumni...

Thanks for the info about this John Bear. I looked him up and he seems above board. Did you notice where he got his degrees? ;-)

Basically a degree is only as valuable as the your potential employer judges it to be. If one decides to off the beaten path (non-accredited institution) to get a degree they should do the research to see it is widely accepted in the field they are aiming for.

I agree with you - the best route is probably to stay with accredited institutions. Unfortunately they can lose their accreditation at some future point and then Google searches will produce only "LOST (or NO) ACCREDITATION" type of results. The context of whether the school was, at one time, a valid vehicle to education will be completely lost.

I feel this is what has happened to Kennedy-Western. At one time John Bear lists Kennedy-Western in the top 100 distance learning schools and within a decade changes his mind. Now Google searches produce DIPLOMA MILL results with no context as to why anyone would ever have wanted to enroll in such a place. Potential employers will likely conclude that Kennedy-Western graduates are not "educated"; an unfair assessment.

Below is a link that is posted at www.dltruth.com. It contains a lot of information on John Bear. I did not write the article and cannot vouch for its correctness.

The truth about John Bear and Degreeinfo
Wow, while there may some truths in that postings it's completely marred by ad hominem attacks and reference to "liberal socialist agenda".

The issues here is not if they were a school or not. They just closed and can no longer send out proof of your education.

You should have copies of transcripts, copies of degrees to use. One of my own schools I went to closed. And as it is with many private schools they open, they close.

What makes the difference if they are open is if they are accredited, at least to some companies. This school was never accredited. Anyone attending would have known that.

And of course a law suit againt what and who, they are closed and there was no real money

I also am in need of my transcripts. In my case, I am currently attending an accredited private university. My conversation with Admissions and Registrars office started with them asking about my previous education and I told them I did have a degree from a non accredited university and therefore I didn't mention them as a source. They told me that didn't matter, they were still interested to see my transcripts to determine if anything would be transferrable. They have accepted certain credits from non accredited sources, not all of course but they would look at it. So if I can save myself some time and classes, I'm going to do that. Do I agree that WNU is "substandard" yes, absolutely to a point. Having said that, it wasn't completely worthless either which is apparent if accredited institutions are willing to take a look at the transcripts.

The sad answer is that you will not be able to get transcripts, diplomas, or anything else from Kennedy-Western. Some of us spent years defending Kennedy-Western. I still believe that Kennedy-Western offered a quality educational opportunity however, it is impossible to defend what they did to their students and alumni.

I've stricken all references to my Kennedy-Western doctorate from my resume. The four years I studied there were not a total waste but I have no acceptable credential to show for my work.

    Best wishes.

If you need KWU or WNU transcripts, try emailing Bob Peterson, the CEO of the University at [email protected].

Actually it really is his address.

If you want to get his attorney, contact Gary Scott, at [email protected]

It usually takes a while to get transcripts. But people have been getting them.
