    It controls the amount of freon being put into a evaporater coil,, don`t think there is any cleaning to it.

    Why exactly do you need to clean the expansion valve? If you are having problems with it, and plan on removing it, just replace the txv. If you suspect a restriction, check for a screen or maybe a filter drier.
