    Exceptionally foul smell in bathroom
We recently noticed a foul smell coming from our bathroom. The smell is not skunky or mildewy it actually smells like excuse my French.. crap. We actually thought it was from our neighbor upstairs after he used his bathroom. After the neighbor being gone for 2 weeks on vaca we realized it could not be from him. It comes and goes and it is extremely strong. What is the best way for us to figure out what this smell is and where it is coming from?

This could be sewer gas from a faulty wax seal. Are you quite sure it doesn't come from any of the drains? Regards, Tom

We have smelled the sink drain, shower drain and the toilet and it does not seem to be coming from any of them. Some times I think it is coming from the vents. If it is from the faulty wax seal, what is the easiest way to fix?

There's only one way to repair a faulty wax seal and that is to pull the toilet and replace it. Good luck, Tom
