    Hot water doesn't stay hot
We have hot water in the morning but when we get home from work in the evening and try to give our son a bath or do dishes, we have luke warm water at best, mostly just cold. Each mornig it is hot again for about a 30 minute period before we lose it again. We have this problem every winter but not so much in the warmer months, unfortunately I live in NH so there are only a few of those warmer months.

Only in the winter? Could be sediment buildup. When did you flush heater last? Make sure the temp is set high enough-120*. Have you noticed any small white plastic pieces in the aerators or sink? You may have a deteriorated dip tube.

It is mostly in the winter. Temp is set at 120. Boiler is always calling for heat to the hot water tank.the return line is ice cold. We have not noticed any plastic.

How do you get hot water? Not a HW heater? Boiler with a circulating pump?

With the return line being "ice cold" I wonder if you don't have a leak somewhere. What kind of boiler & hot water tank?

We have a boiler that feeds I to an accumulator tank. The boiler seems OK. The tank is a heat flow tank.

Some pictures of the boiler & tank would probably help. Need at least one showing as much of the set up as possible then a couple closer up.

We flushed the heater and so far so good. Hot water straight for the last 24 hours! Thank you!

So now almost 2 weeks later, we are back to the same issue. Have hot water only in the morning. We don't use it all day and at night when we go to give our son a bath, no hot water again.

    Mandy,
I'm sorry but for some reason I can't see your pictures. If you don't mind would you please try posting them on photobucket.com or similar photo sharing site & providing a link to the album here. Thanks.

I think they may have worked this time, I hope because I've not used photobucket but will figure it out if needed.

Still no luck. If you are familiar with another photo sharing site, that's fine. I just mentioned photobucket because that's the one I'm most familiar with.

Strange, I can open on my Kindle but not through here. WOW, that's a lot of stuff. I can see a boiler on the left side, a storage tank on the right? Is that not heated? a lot of red PEX, some zone valves but not sure what goes where. Pretty hard to visually assemble the components, sorry.

    ma0641,
Not being able to see it, can you tell if there is a sidearm plate heat exchanger for the domestic? Like those on a System 2000 if you are familiar with them.
