    U N peacekeepers
Hi wondered if anyone could help me.Two questions about peacekeepers in Lebanon. When on a mission do they have to stay until mission is completed? No leave even after 6 months? Also does there personal bank accounts get frozen for the duration of there mission and no access because of risk of fraud bribery etc ? Thank you for any replies

It seems you have been fed some erroneous information. No, they can't leave before the duration of their course of action, and no, I don't think their bank accounts are frozen. Why don't you call his CO?

Many of them are married and have families... how could their families survive if their accounts were frozen.

I do however doubt very much they would have any leave during 6 months there.. in fact I would doubt they had any for at least a year, if they had any at all.

I think there is more to this than you are telling us.

Ah, I will bet this is someone you do not know and they message you online. They are "trapped" in the UN group with no money and are having to borrow money or going hungry. They may even be offering to be a boyfriend or girlfriend. Or even better, they found a large amount of money that is locked in their bank.

Peacekeepers are just military people from various nations that work in a unit. They get leave (vacation time) they rotate in and out back to their own units just like any military unit.

No their money is not frozen, they get paid and have access to local money and access to the bank accounts from their own nations. If they have a money issue, the military base they are on, can assist them in any emergency.

Thank you for your reply. Yes he was on dating site we have been chatting over 2 months he seems nice but things are not adding up. He has no family no access to his bank acc apparently . He sends pics of him out there as soldier. Pics of him on dating site with his name so could he be scamming? Hr says he lives in England but where he says he lives not in his name I checked he said that's for security reasons.
If it was scamming would he put his pic and name for everyone to see?

    It's NOT his name..
This is a classic romance scam and well documented.

For reference here is the breakdown of UN troops as at Aug 2015: Troop and police contributors. United Nations Peacekeeping

They do keep messaging, and not ask for money for a while, try to get your romantically hooked, and even ask for just a little money, like he got air fare but now needs... some other cost.

Also UN troops are paid by their own governments, not the UN, So an American soldier assigned to UN is still paid by the US government, a British soldier assigned to the UN is paid by them.

They have scripts, steal photos from Facebook or other social media sights and so on.
And/or photo shop their face into photos,

Thank you. Oh he's very good with the charm and no info on his Facebook page which I thought was odd. I've had doubt for while but didn't know how U N worked so gave him benefit of doubt.can they make phone calls? He said only secured calls allowed. Also said he was with specialist unit and couldn't leave until mission completed. It was the frozen bank account what set alarm bells didn't think that was true. I didn't think he lives where he says either. It was registered sold last year and he's supposed of lived there long time. Actually as I'm saying this I'm thinking what a fool I am!

    You are being actively scammed.

No, their accounts don't get "frozen," this is actually how they get paid for being deployed. The funds get automatically placed into their accounts. Both of my sons were delpoyed to Iraq and Afghanistan, their wives had all access to the bank accounts at all times.

Most of the time they can make phone calls, it will just depend on exactly what their MOS is, and whether they have access to phones or satellite phones.

Sounds like he is playing your emotions. Tell him to take a hike. You should try to meet someone local and in person.

Photos can be copied and pasted, they can be photoshopped. He could be a 40 year old fat nerd with a vivid imagination living in his mother's basement.

He's scamming you and I seriously doubt he is even a peacekeeper.

How do you know its actually his picture? I could post Chris Hemsworth's picture and claim its me... but it wouldn't make it so.

He's lying about everything. Don't waste a minute of time or ANY money on someone that's not local to you that you actually meet in person frequently.

Not just you, I get about 4 to 5 email messages or social media messages a week, loving my profile, thinking I am handsome. (LOL, I am a 60 year old fat man)

Often they say they saw profile on Facebook, but they email to my acounts not associated with Facebook.

Even best are the ones that connect to my Skype, I have gotten some that want to dance for me, and then ask for money for new camera if they do "more" dancing. Or others that want to send adult photos.

So this is a multi billion dollar business.
