Exactly 35 days ago I made a stupid decision. I was incredibly intoxicated and let a friend of mine talk me into trying cocaine for the first time in my life. Recently, I received a dream job offer for an entry level position to a fortune 500 company. They told me I will need to take a hair follicle test for pre-employment. I believe we did three lines each. Some details about me: Very active, Slim (Almost no body fat), incredibly fast metabolism, caucasian with blonde hair. I have had two hair cuts since that night and I have always trimmed my body hair. What are my chances of passing and is there anything I can do to improve my chances?

No, there is no trick and once in hair, how fat or skinny and how active you are mean nothing. It is trace chemicals that just last for a certain amount of time.

There is nothing to do, but hope for the best, a one time use, will show, and three lines is more than just a little.
But how cut (the strength of the drug will also play a part of it..

Thanks for the reply! I didn't get the haircut because of this test. It just so happened that way because I usually get a haircut every three weeks.

You probably will pass after 35 days of your last use, depending on what your allowable level of detection is, but be careful of those stupid mistakes in the future.

Believe me, I will never do anything like this again. I'm confused though about the cut off levels. 500 p/g m/g. Exactly how much would the typical person need to do to pass that level?

Since you didn't do much cocaine my best guess is that you will be negative on a hair drug test. It might be a good idea to NOT get another hair cut until you have the test. You're better off having them use head hair that body hair.

Also most labs report hair drug test results in picograms per milligrams (PG/MG) not ng/ml which is used for urine testing ONLY. Any time you see ng/ml it is a urine test. Usually the cutoff level for hair drug test for cocaine is 200 pg/mg. Of course if your still worried you can do your own Anonymous Hair 5 Drug Panel test. YOU don't have to put your name of social security number on the chain of custody form.

Thanks for the response! I have been reading that body hair show a greater period. Honestly, this is the only time I have tried drugs in my life. So wouldn't it work in my favor to use body hair? Or would the body have be more prone to show up on the test regardless of the single use?

I doubt you get to choose what hair to use, but the important fact is they are looking for habitual users, and one time use doesn't put you in that category. So relax, and don't fall into the trap of trying to hide what you have done in the past to enhance your already great chance of passing, no matter what test they use.

Just an update. I took the test the other day, so it would be at 43 days since the incident. The technician took the sample from my leg. When do I find out if I pass or fail the test? If I don't hear from anyone by the end of today that will mark two days since the test(You guys have gave me some reassuring words but I'm still extremely nervous).

When you find the results of the test will depend on the particular lab and their workload. We aren't privy to that information. It will also depend on the chain of command, i.e. The order in which they have to notify people. You will be the last to be notified.

Once the lab gets the sample it usually takes 2-3 biz days to get the results (at least with the lab I use) but who knows how long the requesting company (employer) takes to let you know. I still think with that small amount ingest it won't show up but we shall see.

Good deal. The drugs aren't worth screwing around with. They only provide heartache which I see everyday.
