Putting in my two cents worth... especially as I'm a woman...
I fully AGREE with smoothy about waiting a little longer before going into a panic - unless you've had unprotected sex and have a reason to panic.
In my younger years, I would mark the "first chance date" on my calendar, but could never depend on the flow waiting that long and sometimes went well into the next month before my "monthly friend came for a visit". In fact, several doctors confirmed this little tidbit from Wikipedia: "A normal menstrual cycle in adult women is between 21 and 35 days. In adolescents, there is wider variation, and cycles are normally between 21 and 45 days."
So yes, wait a little longer before you panic, and if you feel that you might be pregnant, go and have a doctor actually run the test. I can also tell you from experience that the over the counter pregnancy tests will give false positives - AND false negatives - so rather than give yourself heart attacks, go in and have the most effective test run. (The only time the test the doctors run failed me was when I had a miscarriage. The test still showed I was pregnant two weeks after the miscarriage began, so I had to have an ultrasound before they could proceed with medications and procedures to assist my body with finishing what it had started.)
Best of luck!
