    Trump's Dopplelganger
The Hitler comparisons don't work well. Hitler, for all his evil, was a brilliant orator, which Trump decidedly is NOT. The body language, too, misses. However, another tyrant comes to mind - one that works only TOO well.

Trump is a duplicate of the famous Italian buffoon, Benito Mussolini. Same body language, same pompously raised head while speaking, same self-congatulatory head nods, same goofy facial expression. He lacks only the black shirt which I'm sure he has tucked away somewhere.

It's hard to keep up with Trump's daily goofiness. But that may be coming to an end as a DC grand jury begins to look into Russian collusion with the Trump people during the 2016 election.

It is my belief (and fervent hope) that the downfall of Donald Trump is nigh ending the most shameful period in the history of the American presidency.

Hitler's Nazism was a crude knock off of Fascism of which Mussolini was one of the leading architects of the philosophy. It is rooted in liberalism although liberals will deny it today . It came from the late 19th and early 20th century's liberal romantic view of human perfectibility .

The original fascists, Mussolini included, were very socialist . Mussolini’s initial program for fascism was an an egalitarian dream ,not much different from Bernie Sanders brand of populism .They were big on workers’ rights, expropriation of leading industries and women’s right to equality among other signature liberal causes of today . Liberals believe that these policies do not have to end up with an authoritarian state . But it almost always inevitably does .That is because individual freedoms clash will collectivism and who but the big state can enforce the Utopian dream ? . Initially the fascists emphasized their commitment to “the purest form of democracy,” one in which the state protected its decent, hard working citizens against excessive individualism .

As far as Trump being Mussolini ? I personally do not think he has the intellectual curiosity to be a leading developer of a political philosophy as Mussolini was . If you call Mussolini a buffoon then you should spend more time reading about him. Trump doesn't come close to his intellect . Nor has Trump exercised any desire to control the government as Mussolini did . On the contrary ,he rarely even approaches Congress with the specifics of what he wants them to do . He is almost uninterested in the specifics of his agenda .

Take for example the attempted 'repeal and replace' fiasco. When the emperor wanted Obamacare ,he seized to reigns and guided Congress and the nation towards that goal . It took almost 2 years but he forever changed the way healthcare will be administered in this country . It was also the emperor who rammed through almost a Trillion dollar in "stimulus ' spending through Congress . He faced very little opposition in that because as his chief of staff said 'don't let a crisis go to waste ' (paraphrase ). That was right out of the fascists playbook.

Despite his wishes Trump cannot and will not control the media .That was one of the 1st things on Mussolini's agenda . It is the opposite in American today . The media has lost all semblance of objectivity in their opposition to Trump. Trump will do his 4-8 years and when he's gone the American system will have survived unchanged .

Trumps appeal to the right wing, and the desperate is undeniable in his winning the presidency, and surprising that he was not sufficiently vetted as has been the MO of previous elections. It's no wonder the bombast and fear mongering worked so well, but he did have the perfect opponent in Hillary, the most vetted and hated political figure of the right wing in history.

Mussolini at least kept the trains running on time as he colluded with the Nazis, something that escapes the Orangeguy's notice, as he lacks MANY skills to serve ALL the people and not just give lip service to his base, or does he have a different agenda altogether? This is only PART I of the Trump saga, as more is revealed about the man and his ways, and the big question is what will the people do in 2018?

Give him more support in the house and senate? Or reign him in with more democrats? Will he even survive the current investigation? Or will the repubs surround and contain him as they find their own courage to buck the base of their own party? Until then they are going to peal this fool like a banana and reveal this lying dufus for what he is, no matter what red lines he draws, and how loud the right wing noise machine hollers in his favor.

No Tom I don't think we can compare him to anyone else in history, or assign ideology to this time in American history at all, but will acknowledge the challenge to the sensibility of the American experiment with self governance. I am confident a course correction is coming very soon. I suspect you wingers will be asked how that business guy you have always coveted as president worked out for ya!

    Hello:

He's more like Archie Bunker than he is Mussolini. He's also a lot like Peron.

Wow, defending Trump was bad enough, but defending Mussolini is breathtaking !! All anyone needs to know about Mussolini is that he was in bed with the Nazis, stayed allied with Hitler to the bitter end, and, in Roosevelt's famous comment, "[Mussolini] was the hand that held the dagger that has stuck it into his neighbor's back", upon learning that Mussolini invaded France when that country was being overrun by the Nazi juggernaut.

In any case, I was referring to Trump's appearance and body language - not his political philosophy, of which he has no discernible one.

I note that you consider women's right to equality a Fascist platform.

As you right-wingers always forget (or, more likely, ignore ) the stimulus package was begun by the Republican administration BEFORE Obama took office. The financial crash that brought world-wide misery was created and sustained by the corporate and banking interests supported by the Republicans.

It took Obama 8 years to correct this criminality without an inch of help from the Republicans - the original aiders and abetters. Their preferred solution was let "the market correct the problem". Yes, after a full-blown DEPRESSION that would have dwarfed the 1930's depression.

Trump will do his 4-8 years? I think not. More likely, another 4-8 MONTHS.

Stop playing historian, tomder, but if you must, at least pick the right side.

20th Century Liberalism is nothing more than rebranding of socialism of which communism and fascism are related ideologies . One is national socialism and one is international socialism .

No that was the bailout ;something I opposed . When the emperor entered office he and his poodles Pelosi and Reid passed AARA . That had nothing to do with Republican efforts .
I was NOT defending Mussolini .I was making the correct comparison of his brand of fascism and American progressives of the early 20th century ..

So your shallow comparison was based on appearances ? I thought there was maybe some substance to the comparison that needed correction.

21st century capitalism is nothing more than legalized stealing for a chosen few. Traditional socialism and communism was nothing more than excuse for the government to funnel the money from everywhere to the few. Reagan's trickle down economics was but the American version and still under the guise of capitalism, or free trade whichever you prefer.

So whatever you want to call all the money in the pocket of a few, you end up with the same thing. Don't humans fascinate you with their semantic nuances? It's all a big LIE to cover up the fact that a few should run the government and finances no matter who the PEOPLE elect.

It sounds like the literature you're reading is right out of the John Birch Society. Is it?

No, my comparison was not shallow. Yes, it was based on appearances. I said as much.

Check again, MY side has done nothing but point out flaws in The Dufus. Everything else is his own doing. Got specifics we can discuss?
