Hi sweetpie88. I think you can spice your resume up a bit and maybe add some more things. Most people try to convert everyday language into "resume terminology." For example instead of saying "Works well independently and as a team member," you may say "Abilty to work independently," and "Capable of working in a team enironment." You can "convert" the other things in your resume also.

One other thing you can add is an objective in the beginning of your resume. For example you can say "To obtain a position in which I can apply my organizational, time managemnet, and planning skills." (You can use this as your objective you would like to. ;) ) Also, if you can use Microsoft Office Suite, it is good to add that to your skills.

For the Education section you may put your high school education with your GPA, name of school, grad date, etc.. You can also add your college. Since you don't have a degree, you may want to list some courses that you have taken that maybe relevant to the position in which you are applying for. Finally, the last thing to do is to format: add bullets, italisize objective, add dates, etc..

Here's some examples of resumes that be helpful
Sample Some College But No Degree (Administration) Resume
Pilot Sample Resume & an example resume

Got references? You should have some if possible. You don't have to name them if you don't want to, but you can say " References available upon request."

Suggest you name specifically any software you know how to use, e.g. Excel, Word, etc.

    Good luck.

Are you willing to jog in a different direction?

Full-time, or would part-time be okay?

Would you be willing to work as in intern (for free) for a limited time in order to prove yourself and get your foot in the door?

I think I might be willing to go in a different direction... either full time or part time is fine and yes I would be willing to work as an intern for free to prove myself. Whatever it'll takes to do what I need to do

For the intern thing, put out your feelers. Are there any public libraries within reasonable driving distance? Send them or drop off a resume along with a (probably) posted-online employment application. There may be job openings that aren't posted yet or current employees are being interviewed first for a job that hasn't hit the ads yet. You don't need a library degree or even previous library experience to work in a library. Customer service is priority one. Offer to be a volunteer and shelve books or hunt for interlibrary loans that have to be sent out or search the shelves for books/DVDs that supposedly have been returned (the library has a list of them every day). That's where my library looks first for new employees -- among the volunteers.

Also, check out other area companies and non-profits, both for paid positions that might fit you and for (unpaid) intern possibilities. Write and mail a clever query letter to each. In this economic climate, a job seeker has to be creative and be willing to go the extra mile.

If you're just sitting at home anyway, at least be proactive while you're unpaid.

A Resume must be designed to sell your skills, knowledge, and experience to an employer so that the concerned person will invite you for an interview.
