It seems that your only purpose here is to harm someone's reputations and nothing else.
The labour department number from the labour office is the leading provider of employment and income verifications. It provides different "types" of verifications for different purposes. For example, if you are looking for a job, your future employer might want to check your past employment while a mortgage lender will typically need to verify your income before giving you a loan. If you apply for public aid from a social service agency, they too will need an enhanced verification. This number can meet each of these needs.
I obtained this number when applying for a job, and more - I got the job!

    Really Reynante.
That being the case would you please supply a link or other reference to them and explain why I, as a European that has used many agencies, has never heard of this activity!

Yes, a total and utter scam. The European Union Labour Department Number does not exist. We regularly get questions about this. A) There is no European Union Labour Department. Labour affairs are handled on national level. B) There was talk of a European Blue Card, but this has been kicked in the long grass. The truth is that Europe has made it incredibly difficult for lower educated staff to work in Europe. As unemployment levels are very high local governments need to try and get locals back into work first. We have regularly posted about this on our blog. (http://blog.eurojobs.com/2012/02/european-labour-department-number/)

Guys, beware. You won't be able to get a job as a factory worker in the UK (or anywhere else in the EU for that matter) as the EU effectively has closed the borders for unskilled labour. Only when you have a highly sought after skill, e.g. a medical doctor, you will be able to obtain a work permit. Otherwise there is no chance, whatever a scammer might tell you. Recruiters in the EU will not charge you for permits, visas etc. Normally the employer would obtain these and bear the cost of that.

Read our blog on www.eurojobs.com for more information, but the crux of it is that as an unskilled labourer you will not be able to get a job in Europe.

    Sorry!

Don't believe the story that they already have an employer lined up. All they want is your money.
You will not be able to get a job in the EU as the EU has effectively shut the borders for unskilled labour. Only highly educated and very specialised staff (Medical doctors, etc.) will be able to get a work permit.

Recruiters in Europe will never charge you for work permits as this is something an employer will take care of.

The fact that they will want to charge you for non existing labour numbers, processing fees, etc is a sure sign that this is a scam.

We have written various posts about these types of scams on our blog on www.eurojobs.com. The rule of thumb is: "If you're not European and haven't got highly sought after skills, forget about trying to get into Europe."

Unemployment levels are just too high in Europe.

    Sorry!
