    Energy Savings Tax Deduction?
Hi Atlanta Tax Expert. I'm currently have siding put on my home with an underlayment of R-5 insulation board. The contractor told me that I can get a tax break for up to $500 for any combination of energy efficient windows, insulation and furnaces. He says it is for 2006 only. I've never heard of this and was wondering if you can point me in the right direction to get the details if you are familiar with it. Thanks in advance. You perform a great service to many on this site. Don't know where you find the time, but be assured that it is appreciated. Dave.

Your contractor is correct about the credit.

However, if you can believe the link, your siding does not qualify, because its primary purpose is not conservation, but rather decoration.
