    Can't see images on some websites
    I get a cross instead of a picture or banner on some sites. Can anybody please advise.

    That cross is shown when the picture can't be found. If it is a site you are visiting, it just no longer means that the picture is no longer there. If it is a forum, guestbook etc. like this where you have posted an image yourself, then it means that the site you are trying to link to the picture on has hotlink protection.

    Here's a site to test if an image is hotlink protected

    Because it's a mode on pop up blocker that prohibits site from displaying images.
