What did you come up with? What equation do you think would work to find out the answer?

We can't do your homework for you, it's against the rules of this site, and frankly not the moral thing to do either.

Think about the problem, come up with a few equations, post them here. We can look over your work and tell you if you're on the right track, we can help you once you post your work, but we can't, and we won't, do your work for you. This is your homework, not ours, so put in the effort.

Yes, it is helpful, that is the answer, but how did he get the answer? You can't just write down "the answer is $1 for 1/2 a pound", you have to show how you came up with that answer. When you have a test, we won't be there to do it for you. You'll have to know how to get the answer yourself.

So think about the question. 1 1/2 pounds cost $3. So what would the equation be to figure out that each 1/2 pound costs $1? And now that you know that each 1/2 pound costs $1, how much does 1 pound cost?
