Tricky one... sheer guess work here but I'm seeing... stlin .pnd.. or.. stuin . Pnd... or... stlin.fnd..!

Can you not find a reputable art gallery local to yourself that might help you, or visit the library who are sure to have lots of books containing information on artists from that era, maybe even an antique shop / dealer might have some information.

Stlin. Seems plausible to me... beginning from the first letter, if that one is a "S" than the 2nd one could easiely be seen as a "t" the 4th I guess, is quite sure an "I" followed by an "N" and a DOT. - so its ST*IN. p/f/g/j ** DOT

    Why two abbreviation?

If there is a frame for this, are there any other letters, number or words on it? Thanks!

Unfortunately there are no other letter or signs on it, not even on the revers. The frame is not the original frame and hasn't any marks eather.

You may be on to something there, mackythehacker!

I would like to add that what I see appears to be a watercolor painting.

Yes, it's a kind of watercolour-painting, its gouache. I can't even make it out if its in Italy or France, just the still reminds me a bit on Eduard Hoppers early years
