I am wanting to take a photo or clip art picture and turn into just a outline, so I can trace it and make a pattern to carve on eggs , does anyone know how this is done?

You could buy some tracing paper and trace the outlines of what you want on it to get the outlines.

After tracing the outline, you can then use transfer paper (purchased at any local arts and craft or hobby store in many colors. I use a stylus, rather than a pen or pencil when I make the transfer so it can be used over and over), place it under the tracing paper on which you have your design or outline of image Tape the transfer paper on the egg and slide your piece of transfer paper in under it. That way your outline will not slide around as you work with it.
