I'm 80. What do I to do with photo albums ?
I have 5-6 carefully organized family photo albums. They are simply "stored" on my sheves. What shuld I do with them before I "move on."

I'm 64 and have the same problem. I have two boxes full of family photos that go back 100 years. I have a rocking chair that was used by my great grandfather.

Do you have any children or grandchildren or nieces/nephews who might want to become the keeper of family treasures including photos?

That is a great question. I just came into possession of a huge box, full of smaller chocolate boxes, each stuffed with pictures, letters, and artifacts that go back decades.

I'm at a loss as well.

I'm thinking of having all the pictures scanned and put on DVD's. As to all the paper items, I haven't got a clue. I worry about humidity, and storage.

Maybe like Wondergirl says, appoint one person who is willing to maintain your collection of photos, and purchase some clear bins that seal well, marked for easy identification.

I'll have to do likewise- thanks for the push!

My mom passed last year, she had all the photos divided into boxes with a note on the top of each for what family member they should go to.

I have been transferring the photos my mom has collected over the years to disk, and flash drives, so she can view them on her TV, show her friends, and store the originals away for the future.

It's a great project, but any photo shop can do the same without a lot of expense or hassle. No telling where they will end up after I am gone, but I can make copies easily for nieces, nephews, and grands.

Do you have family or close friends who might like your photos? Have you checked with your local historical society? Or sometimes local colleges, high schools or tech schools might have an interest for photography classes/exhibits, etc. Hope that you find a wonderful place to use your collected memories.
