    What functions are lost when outdoor sensors are not used with a heatpump/Gas furnace

    I want to replace a home thermostat that has an outdoor sensor with one that does not. The heating system is a heat pump with a gas furnace backup. What function would be lost?

    can a Honeywell RTH8500 replace a Lennox (P)X4147 themostat

    Can a Honeywell RTH8500 thermostat be used to replace a Lennox (P)X4147 and if so were do I terminate the S1 and S leads on the Honeywell thermostat?
