I've already put a plug inline so I can just unplug it but I was trying to make it quicker and easier.
The photo cell is on top of the light so I cannot shine a light or laser at it. Also, then it...

The wiring I'm doing is on a street light. The power is supplied by a local transformer.

Got any links to any pictures or sites that might show me what type of blade type switch is available?
-
I was looking at it some yesterday and looking for the easiest way to wire the motor and relay in parallel. I'll just have to think some more. I might put a small box with a relay out on the saws and...
-
ma0641, these are street lights with a photo cell and we want to be able to turn them off occasionally to draw less bugs or for watching fireworks, etc.
The wires are aluminum and probably 8 or 10...

HK, the saws are connected by separate hoses to the dust collector and there are plastic inline slide gates to isolate each saw but they are both just always left open since the smaller hose won't...

I bought this equipment at an auction and he just had it set up the way I described earlier.
My problem with wiring the relay coils and motors in parallel is that the saws just have cords that plug...
-
TK, I see what you mean. I'll see how I can put the two loads in parallel. I have 2 separate relays. 1 is 120v coil and the other is 240v coil.
I'll try to modify the drawing to get your...

HK, I'll modify the drawing and label the contacts and relays.

What kind of switch do I need?

This is a drawing of what I'm trying to do.

Find which wire is the actual nuetral (Should be white) and the hot wire (Should be black) and wire the hot to one of the terminals on the switch. From the other side of the switch, pigtail off and...
-
Here is the way I had it wired and the dust collector would come on if you turned onn either switch but the saws didn't run.

I have a Delta radial arm saw (208 volt) and a Milwaukee panel saw (120 Volt)connected to a Delta dust collector (120 Volt) and I'd like to be able to just turn on either the panel saw or the radial...

I wondered that myself but I don't think he took the door switch apart at all. If the switch does have both N/O and N/C that's an easy fix. I'll look at it this weekend for him.

My neighbor is finishing his basement and has been trying to do some electrical work himself. Now he's got something mixed up because when he opens his pantry door the light goes off and when he...

I'm trying to install a switch in the 120vac dusk to dawn light by our house. There is a small access door on the pole to get to the wiring. I'm looking to just put in some type of inline switch on...

Thanks for the advice Milo. We don't put too much down the GD but egg shells and veggies and that type stuff.
-
Got it! Thanks all for the help! Turns out 3 egg shells had gotten clumped and caused the blockage. What's odd is that I had the snake through the clog but when I pulled it out it was still clogged....
-
I've had all that apart and am running the snake in just as pictured. I had the snake all the way through to the clean out in the basement, ( I saw it with a small mirror up inside) but when I put...

Milo, I have a 3/8" snake I'm using. I think I might have just gotten the snake through the clog. I'm going to boil some water and run that down the drain to see if I got it. Are there any products...
-
I'm sure this is a common problem but I need some advice on the best way to unclog this thing. The kitchen sink suddenly started draining extremely slow. I tried 2 of the liquid unclogging products...
-
All good advise. I think he got his lying from his dad. I think "justcurious55" might be right about him being better off here at our house more.
She went to the county fair with him yesterday and...

I consider myself a very forgiving person and I guess that has been passed on to her. Her Mom on the other hand can hold a grudge for quite a while. We've both talked to her about the situation so...

Yes, I posted my problem in 2 forums basically because I didn't know where it was best suited.
Thanks for the honest and thoughtful answers guys and gals

Thanks tickle. Good advise.

If he is actually physically hitting you you have to leave ASAP. I know it will be hard. You need to be around for your son and suicide is not an option. Who knows who your son will end up growing up...

My 21 yr old daughter has been dating a guy for 4 1/2 years now. He's been a pretty good kid so far but they recently broke up because she found out he had cheated on her in some way. He said he knew...

Thanks guys. I think I'll just wait to put up the base. The concrete floor is not completely level of course so I'll try to make sure I don't make the base too tight on the high spots but still keep...
-
Is it a big deal if I just wait to put the base on until after the carpet is in? The carpet is a cut and loop carpet and somewhat thin. The pad is about 3/8" thick. The pad goes inside the tack strip...
-
I definitely want to hold it off the floor so the installer can tuck it under the molding but I wasn't sure how much. 1/2" is what I was guessing but I didn't want to just guess and end up with a bad...
-
What is the proper spacing between the base moulding and the concrete floor when installing carpet? Does it depend on the thickness of the carpet and pad?
I'm finishing the basement and am having...
-
Maria, that's no problem. Just make sure you brace the electrical box to support the fan. Lowe's and Home Depot sell a metal box with a sliding bar that you stick up inside the hole where your...

I ran a 20 amp circuit for the outlets on the wall before my bar and for the GFCI outlets above the counter top back-splash of the bar. 7 Outlets total. Do I need all of the outlets to be GFCI or can...

I like the idea of staining the fascia trim on the shelves but what's the best way to trim around the outside? I don't think casing would look right. I guess I could find a decorative 3" wide...

I wonder if I can get a faced MDF locally like Lowe's or HD. Does it router well?
-
Geeez, those drawings turned out big. Sorry

Can someone give me some help on the best way to build some built-in stereo shelves in my basement? I've made a sketch in Paintbrush of what I had in mind but I was thinking of using a good grade of...

Yes, it's the tapered threads that seal against each other but some people think the tape or dope actually seals the joint. They are both just teflon lube.
-
Lee, I just have to wait and see now. I just put it together again with about 4 wraps of tape. So far no leak. New nipple too though.
-
Mark, I bought a new nipple and I'll try the teflon tape. I always kind of considered the teflon paste thread sealant better than the tape at sealing but I've tried that now I'll try the tape. Thanks...
-
Now I can't get this darn small leak to stop. It appears that it's leaking between the sweated on copper threaded fiiting and the brushed nickel nipple threaded into it. I've put plenty of pipe dope...

I guess I should have done more research on the configuration of the plumbing as far as where the water for the toilet comes out of the wall. I put it to the right of the toilet so it would less...
-
Turns out they had a flange at HD that glues inside 4" PVC pipe. It worked out real well. The toilet install went smooth except I've got a slow leak where the satin nickel pipe nipple screws into the...

-
Guys, if you're still listening, I was at HD today and they had what looked like the Twist and Set you guys posted photos of. Do you slide it down inside the 4" drain pipe then tighten some stainless...

One last thing. The toilets we have in the rest of the house seem too short. 15" to the top of the bowl. Any recommendations on toilet choice / features?
-
I'd be afraid the grout would break apart or crumble eventually.
