3/8 inch isn't too bad. You can buy an extra thick wax ring with the funnel Tom was talking about. Did you anchor your flange to the subfloor?
-
Hi,
I know this has been asked before but I am still a little confused. We are going to instal a bathroom group in a basement. We are too far away from the main line and will need to vent the...

I'm no expert but if it was there they would not have put cement over it. Tell him to come and drill the holes... I think he is full up with it.
-
People have been using copper for plumbing and gas for a while. I think you are in good shape.
-
No problems. If you end up joining PVC pipe make sure you follow the directions that come with the PVC primer and cement. Once you have the cement on the parts push them together while twisting at...

Just to make sure... you said under?? Are you putting the backer board on the floor of the shower?
-
A condensate pump will do the job for you. That's what I had to do since there was no other way to get the water outside. Hartell sells a good condensate pump... www.hartell.com (at least that's...
-
Yes a moisture barrier is recommended and if you are putting in a shower pan I believe you should run the barrier inside the shower pan liner.
Check johnbridge.com and the forums there. They...
-
Sounds like you've got a restriction in the drain line... if the washer drain and floor drain run to the same place then if there is a small backup the water will come out at the floor drain before...
-
Do you have a second bathroom you can use. Check johnbridge.com forums. They have a libbery over there that details how a tile shower with shower pan should be built... preslope, shower pan and...
-
From my understanding of things cement grouts are not waterproof. Therefore, people install vapor barriers behind the cement board or whatever the tile is stuck to in order to direct the water into...

Is that "waxy material" shiny i.e.. Lead?
-
This is just something I might try... Seems you have a clog below that bathroom group somewhere. If the roof is way too high then perhaps you could remove the toilet and snake from there. To do a...

The problem I am having is that if I...

Sorry they changed the web page. That link doesn't work. Go to plumbest.com and look for a 2 finger flange that fits my description. If it helps Lowe's carries what I was talking about.

Gary,
Check these out. Seems a bit high 3/4 inch. What kind of toilet was there before? Is it a plastic flange? If yes you could probably bust it out and then use the flange in the link below. ...
-
Hope this helps... If I post this site much more people will think I work there.
Plumbest.com has a catalog with a ton of flanges. Below is a link to one that fits inside a 3 inch and does not...

Sweating isn't hard at all. Read about it in a plumbing book like the ones they sell at Lowe's. Then get a MAAP torch, flux, and lead free solder (MAAP is hotter than propane). Buy some copper...

I'm having trouble making out that picture. Wait for Speedball. He will have an answer for you.

I would think it should be fine... but I don't understand your original problem.
Tom

Do not use either of those on a shower floor.
Go to johnbridge.com forums and look in the libbery there and you will find advice on what to do. Short story: build a shower pan... look into...

What kind of valves did you turn? Take the supply lines off right after the valve and then turn the water on. If it runs then there is some sediment blocking up your faucet.
Tom

I'm not following you. Why doesn't the 4 inch pipe fit into the 4 inch fernco?? Or do I have that wrong? Sometimes (if it really all is 4 inch) you've got to file/sand the edge of the pvc pipe a...

Need more info. Does the pipe come up between the walls or in the middle of the room?

Or just...

For sure a drum trap. Good call Speedball.
Tom

Do you live by a river/lake? A sump pump is a good idea. But how did your garage flood? Is it below grade?
Tom

PVC for sure... As mentioned insulation can dampen any water noise.
-
Have you snaked that drain. If it's 1944 old that could be why it'd draining slow.
Speedball... could this tub already be wet vented?
-
I don't think I would let a contractor do that no matter what they said. First he said move it because it's in the way... now it's a code thing??
