You should also check the safety thermostats at the element casing. Could also be the switch at the motor.

Follow mygirlsdad77 advice. This happened to me once. A jambo leggo piece was floating in the trap. Replace with new .ok.

The water valve takes two set of quick disconnect cold water y-r/w hot water br-r/w there should not be any loose wire. Check your water temp. switch.
