Check gas cap make sure it can breath. Also check oil. Older carbs needle valves wear out gets gas in oil.

Most key switches for all brands are the same. AYP - Murray used same make switches.

You can put any engine you want in there. Any kohler will work. I have changed 17 teens for 15.5s Heck find 15.5 to 16.5 Somewhere try to find used. Older Kohlers run for ever.
