    Reconfigure a router
I recently lost the ability to connect my laptop to my network. Something happened to the main computer. I have been told that I need to reconfigure my router. I have a netgear router. I don't know the first thing about it. Help!

Did you check the manual? Usually you get into the router config by going to the router IP using a WEB Browser. Not sure what the default IP for Netgear is, usually its 192.168.1.1.

    Reconfigure router
Thank you Scott, did I mention that I am a computer idiot? How do I get to the router ip via the web browser? I went to the control panel and then to network connections but I got lost there. Thanks for any clarification.

Internet Explorer is your WEB browser. You enter the Router address just as you would a web site address.

I would suggest calling NetGear tech support. They have 24/7 toll free support.
