Oh yeah, golly, my mistake... it was so clear from your post in which you left out that minor detail that you weren't a guy.

    Have fun with your snake.

So you don't care about your girlfriend's feelings about having a snake, and you don't care about spelling words correctly, especially in a thread in which the site editor is posting?

I had already used the word before you did, so you could have copied from my use or looked it up.

    I would get a hedgehog.

Perhaps finally act like a real friend and partner by asking for her input.

Find a little milk snake in the wild and say you just want nurse it back to health. You can say you saw a cat drop it or you hit it with the lawn mower and you WILL release it after a short while. After she sees how docile it is, and how easy it is handle it... she might try to touch it , see how it is not a slimy devil and then you let it go and MAYBE someday while in a pet store together you could see a cute little rock python and she may see things differently... worked with my wife... our cat brought us a garner snake... cut, bleeding and bitten but the little guy survived and she saw that it was just an animal... not furry, not really even cute... but not dangerous and evil... now we have several and she hanles them all the time... Good luck
