A helium nuclide of massm1 moving with an initial velocity of v0- is incident on a stationary nuclide mass m2. After collision,m1 was deflected through an angled Ѳ and m2 angle of ɸ. If the velocities of the nuclide after collision were v2 and v2 respectively, show that for an elastic collision in the laboratory co-ordinate system.
(v1/v0)2= 2( v1/v0)m1/(m1+m2 ) cosθ+((m2-m1 ) /(m1+m2 )
Also show that v2=(2v0 m1)/(m1+m2 ) cos∅
And that m2/m1 =sinѲ/sin(2∅+θ)
