Does anyone know where I can find parts for my Tecumseh snow blower engine? I cannot find the model number anywhere on it and I am kind of lost at this point. I looked on the web with no luck.

The snow blower itself was built in 1975 but the engine was replaced sometime in the 80’s. She still runs pretty well, but she is really loud (like I have to wear ear plugs loud!)

It is pretty obvious that the muffler needs to be replaced. If I cannot find the “right” part, will any muffler that fits work? Please see the pictures below where you can clearly see how rusty that old muffler is…

Do you know what the hp is? There is a very good chance that you could get a muffler by choosing the one for a Tecumseh engine of the same hp.

The only risk would be that the bolts would not line up. Sine you know the year it was made, there must be customer service phone number to help or a local small engine shop.

I would just remove the muffler and take it into a shop. The guys will know pretty quick if they have , or can get, anything that will fit.Back in simpler times those mufflers were pretty much all alike and were scrwed onto a pipe bib just like in plumbing.

Jchild - Don't know the HP also don't know the year the engine was made, just the snowblower itself, engine was replaced.

Ballenger - Thanks that helps... I will probably wait until I know I won't need to use it for a while (spring) and do what you suggested. I just hope more parts don't start to go or they will be hard to find.

Just wish they had a good website or someone out there knew the model of this engine.

Ariens has a website. Maybe they can identify the model of the snowblower and the engine.

I am french speaking but I will try to explain you how to find the model and serial number.

First, _ Unscrew the 2 litle bolts on top of the starter switch ( square plastic box
With the buttom to power the electric starter).
Second,_ Look wright there under, and you will see numbers and letters.
Something like: M80 155292K Ser 5113D
If there is rust, use a sand paper and clean it; don't forget to put clear paint or clear nail polish after to prevent rust.

So you’re saying the model number is underneath where I plug in the electric starter. If that is true I thank you very much for the help! I will give it a try tomorrow...

That is where the number is. It is an HM80 though I cannot say the type.

You need to take off the starter button. It is stamped under there. It took me days to figure that one out. Have an old JD 826, just don't make them like that anymore.
