Some else signed the lease on my behalf when I haven't given them permission to do so but didn't send in the deposit. Would I still be liable when the owner had said he will keep showing the apartment until we send the deposit to him. Do I inform the owner that someone else forged my signature?

Its going to be upon YOU to prove it wasn't you. They have a signed contract the says you did.

If they find another renter to take the place soon you will be off the hook... if they can't , they have grounds to sure you in court for the rent until they can find someone.

Why do I find this..."I didn't sign it, someone elses did claim" highly suspicious. Sounds like buyers remourse.

People check ID's when contracts are signed....and its completely unbelieveable someone else you didn't know would sign it with your name and signature on a place you had looked at. Bells and whistles are going off here.


And incidently...you can't ever give someone "permission" to sign your name on a contract...thats ALWAYS considered forgery...and is a crime.
